wissenmedia in der inmediaONE] GmbH is a subsidiary of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA. The company specialises in the development and production of knowledge media under its own brands such as Brockhaus, Faksimile Verlag, CHRONIK, JollyBooks or wissen.de – but also as a service provider for partners and enterprises in Germany and abroad. The portfolio ranges from classical print media to internet services to apps.
With the Brockhaus Knowledge Service wissenmedia provides a professional research and reference portal for schools, universities, libraries, public institutions, educational institutions, government agencies and companies.
In the EEXCESS project, we are invited to contribute our many years of experience in high-quality editorial and publishing processes to the research and development of self-learning recommendation technologies. For EEXCESS, wissenmedia acts as a content-providing partner for the requirement specification and testing of prototypes, but also for the transfer of research and development results into the economy.

The gradual transformation of editorial processes towards automated knowledge aggregation brings interesting technical challenges, but also raises essential media ethics questions (e.g. gatekeeper function). We are delighted to face these tasks within the EEXCESS project at this early stage of development.
